Good tap pressure but poor shower pressure?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

I have a combi boiler system. Downstairs (near the bolier) i have a thermostatic bar shower and the pressure is brilliant, I also have a toilet and basin near to this where the tap pressure is also great. Upstairs I have a bathroom with bath taps and basin taps, both of which have great pressure. In the bathroom i also have a shower cubicle with a thermostatic bar shower... and the pressure on this is rubbish - just about good enough to wash under! Even when I have nothing else running off the boiler, this shower pressure is still poor. This is a new shower I've had fitted, so i'm absolutely gutted and confused as to why the pressure is not as good as anything else in the house! Any help/advice would be great! Thanks, Ben. Thanks for your help - I have removed the bar and cleaned the inlet filters, also removed the flow reducers in the shower handset and headset. The inlet pressure is good. However shower performance is still poor, This leads me to believe that its a faulty bar. I will contact the company (Methven) to get a replacement!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Could be a number of reasons. Including a poor pipework run to this one shower. Or possibly this shower may run from a cold separate gravity water tank ? Or simply a faulty shower bar. First port of call would be to remove the shower bar, and carry out a pressure test first with a gauge.

The first thing I would do is turn of your incoming cold water main, so that you can remove the shower and make sure the filters are not bloked which is a common course on bar showers
