Plumbing

Leak in ensuite shower - upstairs.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.11 PM

last week we noticed a banging/knocking noise, which from what I have read on Google would seem to be 'Water Hammer' then we went away from Friday to Monday and yesterday evening we noticed a small water mark on the front room ceiling, which is directly below the master bedroom ensuite. went up and removed the lino flooring and the floorboards were dark black & damp. I cut a hole out of the floorboards to get to whats underneath and can only see that the joist is wet. it has been suggested that I take off the skirting board to try and locate and check if the waste pipe is leaking, but the joist is sort of underneath the side where the shower tray meets the wall. If anyone can help me out here it would be great, I have photos and I will try to upload onto this thread..... thanks Mike

Leaks can be tricky to find as water will travel. Not sure what sort of tray you have but it sounds like it's above the floor. Can you not remove the plinth if this is the case as this will expose the trap and waste pipe.
