How best to fix damp issues in Victorian terrace

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

Hi - hoping for some advice re a job I've posted on here. I have what I assume is a typical Victorian terraced house i.e. no cavity walls. I'm told one of the walls of a slightly later extension is particularly thin. There are signs of penetrating damp (salting) so I'll get the external injected with a DPC and repaired but the wall is also prone to mould due to condensation. What is the best way to fix this? I've had conflicting advice and I just want to get it sorted properly. Should I be making the wall warmer by building out an internal cavity? Or should I be tanking? This presumably still leaves a cold wall? Where would external insulation (assuming we were allowed to do this) fit into this?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

There are rendering systems where you can externally insulate walls then put weatherproof render over the top. K-rend and weber use these systems but many other companies also do have a look around
