Leaking downpipe

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

We have a rainwater downpipe running down inside rear wall of garage - presumably this was on the outside when house was built but since then an extension has been added. The pipe finishes in a 90 deg bend which disappears through the rear wall of the garage and, I suspect, then discharges into a soak away. Pipe now leaks from the elbow onto garage floor after heavy rain - I really need advice on who to ask to repair, plumber, builder, gutter fitter, handyman ????? Have contacted a number of local builders without joy - any advice welcome

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would all a plumber out to asses it. Pipe could be blocked(which he could fix) or maybe just needs resealed (again plumber could fix)

It sounds blocked past the 90° bend and too much water can't get past fast enough. If you can unscrew the downpipe from the wall enough to give you some movement to remove the 90° bend from the downpipe and fish out what is blocking it. You shouldn't need to call anyone out.
