London - Nest thermostat with Vaillant Ecotec 424 plus

Hi, I have a new Nest Thermostat controlling a Vaillant Ecotec 424 plus boiler. On some days, the hot water doesn't work- it's as if the connection between Nest and the boiler wasn't made at the time the hot water should turn on. If I boost the hot water manually it works fine (and then seems to work fine for a couple more days). Also when I boost just the hot water, the radiator icon on the Vaillant flashes as well (the tap icon does not flash btw). I understand that flashing means it's drawing heat but should the heating icon flash? Any help much appreciated Thanks Jay
