Plastering & Rendering

Why can I see the joints of each plaster board

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

I had a new suspended ceiling to level up my old ceiling (I have a victorian terrace). The plastering looked good until decorated and then every joint shows like a bump in the ceiling. Very disappointing work and expensive for the quality of work I received.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

it might be that they one coated with multi finish wich needs 2 coats but theres a product called fine fill you put it on with a scraper then wait till its totally dry then use a 120 sand paper very fine paint it again and there might be a few areas missed then repeat till your happy basically

Sounds like a quick one coat instead of two, even so a good plasterer can still make a one coat look fine.

Sounds to me like someone forgot the joining tape or did a quick one-coat skim job. Either that or a case of "you paid for peanuts, you got peanuts". To resolve issue, you will need: some joining tape, some filler, a plastering trowel/filling knives, some sand paper, some paint and some elbow grease.
