Best replacement for unvented direct water cylinder

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.16 PM

Hi, Our 2 bed flat is on E7 and it has 1 storage heater and 1 water tank since it was build in '85, so they need replacement. Is there a water tank that is ~150L, has a thermostat, temperature dial, compact, cuts off when reaches a temperature, high pressure flow. I have seen the Dimplex QWCd150-580 but it says it takes 150 minutes to reheat and looks big. I have seen others but it's a bit confusing, not many have smart capabilities. Ideally I would also want a horizontal one for a 1m width cupboard. We would need to fill a bath every two days and be quiet because the cabinet is next to the bedroom. Thanks, Mike

Hi. I'm doubt that 1m long horizontal cylinder exist. As well capacity of such unit won't be sufficient for any task! Having in mind bath capacity you are require about 120 -150l of mixed water. Remembering that only half of a tank contains hot water (from a middle to the top) and lower part gradually becoming colder up to bottom main water inlet which has got temperature of incoming main water, 150l cylinder would be best option. However it will cover only one filling living no option for next one immediately or short after. Then if you wish become secure go with 180l with no.2 of immersion heater which shorten heating up time and give you a greater amount of stored hot water. As well during winter time when incoming water is much colder a two immersions will provide faster recovery and amount of stored hot water give you peace of mind.
