How best to remove anaglypta paper
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.11 PM
Hi, We've recently moved into our new home and we want to start decorating the living room, this currently has anaglypta paper that has been emulsioned at least once. How is the best way to strip it? Regards

I would not advise using a steamer, if your not experience in using this , you can end up doing more work and damage to the wall , , nip down to your local garden shop, pick up a large spray bottle, put some dust sheets in front of the wall, lightly score the wall , spray with cold water, leave for 5 -10mins , to soak in, then your paper , should come off with hardly any scaping ,

Hi and welcome to the world of graft, it can be very difficult to remove, first try a steamer, you can try scratching the paper then steam it, or you can get a long handled scraper, and scrape dry any chunks you may dig out of the plaster, fill and make good, sorry there are no short cuts.

Hi , I'm thinking different about this job, with the big rroler put in hot water and paint on top of the paper like 2 times, wait 5 min, after start with scraper, you need to be sure is just one paper some times are more papers in wall, when is more you need to take off for each papers, after you need to use and steamer which is helpful.
Thanks Elis London.

100% with the other awnser. Plus if you plan to not repaper and paint, but paint the walls as they are after stripping, then there's more graft preparing the walls for paint.......see my other awnsers re:wall prep
