Replacement of damp sockets

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.11 PM

I have some recessed electrical sockets in exterior walls. There is damp around them, which seems to be caused by condensation. A moisture sensor tells me there is moisture in the walls around the sockets. I'm struggling as to whether I want an electrician or a damp expert. I know I need to get the sockets replaced because I got a shock from one. Presumably I need to change them to plastic, get them 'unrecessed' and fill in the condensation hole behind them. My questions are: is that this what I need? And will an electrician do all this for me?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would get an electrician to safely extract the sockets and isolate them. Then get a damp specialist to fix the damp and then an electrician to fit new sockets.

Think you may need both.
