My Lawn is full of new bamboo shoots

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.30 PM

The lawn was full of bamboo. I had it sprayed and cut. The main stalks and the grass died. Now new shoots are popping up everywhere. How do I get rid of it once and for all, rotivator, digging fork, dynamite?!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would first try regular mowing i.e. at least once or twice a week. This should be combined with selective weed killing although i doubt that will work as bamboo is similar to grass. The alternative is to treat the whole area with a total weedkiller over a period of time or until the shoots stop coming through then rotivate and turf. Final option is to dig the entire area and carefully go through it removing all roots before turfing.

Unfortunately bamboo is one of those plants which are hard to get rid of and ideally kept in planters. You could try regular weed killers which is hit or miss tactic. I would try also rotovating and pull out as much root as possible cover the whole area in a thick membrane.
