When would one coat player be used

Had a leaking chimney and it effected the bedroom on the chimney breast. A plasterer advised to sbr the wall and use one coat plaster over the lime walls. The damp is still there Is this the correct method used

No you should not plaster over lime plaster with modern plasters as the lime plaster allows wall to breath letting air through so as the timber behind doesn't rot. you should have used a dehumidifier to draw the damp out as long as chimney problem has been rectified .
