Single storey extension foundation
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.30 PM
I want to build a single storey extension across the back of my semi with pitched roof and bifold doors spanning rear. The neighbours on one side have already done this and I know from a previous owners party wall award that the house foundations are 100mm floor slab overlying hardcore fill. Will new foundations be needed or will this suffice? Trying avoid serving notice for excavations near the party wall

No the foundations are not too current regulations you will have to excavate new footings 600mmx1000mm depending on ground conditions but what the local building control accept

Hi you will require deeper foundations than 100mm slab the requirements for foundations are approx. 1.2meters to 1.8meters depending on soil type and trees near to the property.
You don't need to worry to much about that as this as the guidelines are worked out by building control and followed by your architect and builder
hope this helps
