Hi ive removed an old interior plaster boarded wall in my dinning room and discoverd a hole in the brickwork which leads to the ventilation brick on the outer wall of the house. Im not sure if it was supposed to be like this or if i should seal up the hole? Could someone advise me at all?

Expanding foam, or dri therm type insulation. then flush up with mortar. up to you what you do with external, if its not an eyesore can be left as long as not penetrating water into cavity - in which case brick up.
hope this helps : )

I would brick the hole up and ensure you fill all the joints with mortar.
