Need advice with replacing old kitchen tiles with laminate splashback
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.16 PM
I currently have tiles, 60cm high above the base kitchen units. I will be replacing tiles, worktops and wall units. Once the old tiles removed the wall will be damaged. What can be done to make the wall smooth and even for splashback fitting WITHOUT removing the base units (I am not planning to replace them)? Would it be a good idea to fit splashback on the top of the old tiles? Thank you for your advice!

Removing the wall tiles is always the best option for a neat clean installation of your new splashbacks. The beauty of splashback panels are that the wall behind doesn't have to be dead flat so a simple scrape to remove the old tile adhesive is all that's needed.
If any plaster work falls off with the removal of the tiles then just the deep holes would need to be patch plastered.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
