Fridge under hob

I live in a McCarthy Stone apartment. Every flat has a fridge or a freezer under the hob. Have lived here for nine years with my fridge under the electric hob but have just heard that this should not happen. So I checked the booklet that came with fridge that included installation instructions and it clearly states that installation under a hob is not allowed. So what exactly does this mean, is there any danger to me because of this?

I would always make sure that appliances in your home are installed according to manufacturers instructions. There is no where in the gas regulations that states a gas hob can not be installed above a fridge freezer however some hob manufacturers may specify that it cant. With regards to your fridge freezer their may be safety reasons it can not be installed under a hob so i would advise you contact the manufacturer direct for more information about this and i would look to relocate it when practicle to do so as this may lead to void insurances if you have insurance on the appliance.

It sounds like there is a degree of panic after recent fires. If you are not sure about the safety of your property talk to your local council, they can advise you properly.
