Toilet overflow leak - not a valve issue?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

I had a dripping overflow pipe from my toilet. Standard cistern; bottom fill, plastic, ball cock system separate from flush apparatus. Couldnt identify source of leak, assumed old and crusted fill valve so I replaced with a fluidmaster. Adjusted to perfect water fill height. No leaks from top all good. Still, extremely slowly over time it overfills. Think it must be the seal / inlet area with the issue although no leakage occurs outside the cistern - very slight drip initially from cistern seal upon fitting the inlet pipe to valve, but stopped after the connection nuts were tightened. Any suggestions?

When you tightened up the connection to the inlet valve check you haven't turned the valve inside cistern stopping float valve from reaching its full height allowing water shut off
