how to get rid of cement in the garden?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.10 PM

we moved into a semi-detached but the previous owner left the large garden overgrown. as we started to remove the trees and plants, we discovered a lot of sunk cement blocks, pottery shards for walk ways, pebbles and small rocks all over. we'd like to dig everything up, and plant a lawn, but I've no clue how to dig up some of this stuff. what's the best approach and is there an easy and inexpensive way to get that "barefoot-ready" lawn? thanks!

You need a breaker and a shovel if you don't want to hire a small digger there's machines that turn over soil but if your wanting all the stone and rubble out of it your better off digging it out putting fresh soil down and laying turf over the top . By hand that will be hard graft which is why most people hire machinery . Hope that helped

Hi, By the sounds of it you would need to use a digging bar, kango (breaker) and a shovel. Then once its all loose and moved clear the over all site of rocks or any roots then keep going over with a rotavator to loosen the ground up plus to get rid of anything un wanted. after all of that I would lay grass seeds and just keep a close eye on it.
