Bathroom Fitting

How many trades required to fit electric shower?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.29 PM

I am looking to have a new-build flat's bathroom with just a bathtub currently fitted with an overhead electric shower. The bathroom is done, so this will involve removing current tiling on wall where the shower is to be fitted, and whatever is underneath to install pipes and all that. Obviously as its to be an electric shower, I presume it would also require a separate electrician, right? Finally, I would at the end have someone come and repair the wall and do tiling. How many trades would be required for this job? I'm thinking at least plumber, electrician, and tiler, but is there any reason why between them I'd need someone to do the initial demolition and and then to fit in whatever drywall goes under the tiles? So am I looking at more than three trades here? Or, insane idea, are there people able and qualified to do it all? Many thanks in advance for any advice you may have!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

A decent plumber can fit a shower to existing connections but you may need an electrician to check the wiring, connections and consumer unit are suitable before work commences. If new cabling or consumer unit is required this will be extra work and will all be required to satisfy building control.
