Wires running over the chipboard floor in the bathroom
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.29 PM
I recently moved to a new house and the main bathroom was carpeted. I’ve removed the carpet with the intention of putting down vinyl flooring but I found two wires running over the now exposed chipboard floor. The wires come up through a small hole in the chipboard near the wash basin and run across the length of the bathroom to the bathroom door where they disappear under the hallway carpet. The house has an alarm system and I’ve been told that perhaps they are for this, although this was just someone I know taking a guess. My question is what should I do about these? Is it dangerous for these to be present under vinyl flooring? Should I call in an electrician and what would an electrician likely recommend? I also have a related follow up question. When I got the Home Buyers report for my house the surveyor recommended getting an electrical safety inspection of the house as it is approx. 15 years old. Would any of you recommend this as opposed to just calling in an electrician for the specific issue of these two rogue wires? Thanks for reading and thanks again if you choose to respond.
