Cheap and easy solution to cover the carpet?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

Hello everyone, We just moved our bussiness into a new place witch has carpet flooring and it's not really convenient for us( we work with plaster), and i'm sure it's not gonna look good in a couple of months! We don't have the time or resources to take the carpet out. I was thinking to put laminate flooring on top ( the carpet is preety thin) but the electrical trunkin( dado trunkin) is right at the bottom, and we can't cover it with the skirting. It would be possible to start with the laminate flooring 10 cm from the wall? What about rubber flooring matting, would that be a good ideea? It comes in a roll of 10m and it's cheap on ebay, but i don't know how the edges will be if it's not glued to the carpet, i'm sure someone will trip eventually! Looking forward for some advice, Thanks alot!

Hi. rather than rubber floor on a roll which tends to be quite flexible and yes someone will probably trip at some point. Take a look at these rubber tiling mats, very sturdy very strong a hardwearing, easy to install and cost effective. https://www.slip-not.co.uk/size/Heavy-Duty-Interlocking-Rubber-Gym-Mat/3164?gclid=CLruh8z3_dQCFVEW0wodR-0BIQ#fo_c=1031&fo_k=ac84609f0a786c035ef0c9a75bccbf65&fo_s=gplauk Hope this helps

There are certain British requirements for any flooring in a commercial premises and must be followed to the letter, both ideas you have are not suitable you will need to remove the carpet, prepare the sub-floor based on BS then fit your new flooring don't take shortcuts.
