Central Heating

Best way to heat my hot water

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.10 PM

Hi I am looking for the best way to heat the hot water in my flat. There is no gas, only an electric supply, and installing gas is not a viable option. The current installation is a power shower and an immersion heater for the rest of the flat. I would like to have a very efficient system - it is only me living in the house, but I work different shifts, so I need hot water at different (random) times of day. I rarely use the bath, but I want a system where I could run a bath if need be. I want a good reliable shower, that is hot at any time of day. My bathroom fitter has suggested an electric combi boiler, but thinks that means I would need to fit a radiator somewhere so it could have something to heat. I have no need for central heating, as there is already seperate underfloor heating in the property. I don't really need to have any heating though, so was wondering about how efficient it would be to have a standalone water heater. Would love to hear any ideas.

Hi guyjoseph_74, Dependant on your water pressure I would lean towards an unvented cylinder with a top and bottom immersion the bottom one been on a programmable timer/remote controlled timer that you can use via your mobile and the top immersion been a boost for when you forget to heat up the cylinder. Your shower issue is if you always want hot water at the flick of a switch an electric shower is your best bet, but if used correctly an unvented cylinder will provide plenty of how water plus you can have a mixer shower possibly with a shower rose which would make your showers that little bit more luxurious. Hope this helps. Regards Matthew Swash CPMS Plumbing Ltd.
