an ideal scenario for the best finish, a kitchen will be plastered and painted before installation. If you discuss this with your builder and tell them to break down your quote so you know what they are charging you for plastering, you could use your own plasterer if you like. On many of our fits we tile the floors first. This gives the best finish possible. The likes of Howdens and Benchmarx are a very similar product and are very easy to install. Ikeas kitchens are a different fit (from the tradesmans point of view) and have lots more parts and work involved. In our opinion any kitchen product that is installed well can look and feel like a high end product. in contrast a high end product, fit poorly can look terrible.

Ikea, B&q, Howdens, Benchmarx........all fall in the same category, they are on a level with contract type kitchen " not that good" and even worse is magnets self assembly which is an Hygena revival from France.........all are unfortunately always upsold as "quality" a word that is just about exhausted on the poorer quality kitchens. ( this is my opinion) From 30 years of fitting My conclusion as always been the same........Dont waste your money, it usually costs you twice as much. I always buy my kitchens from the same source and have never been dissapointed or more importantly never had a dissapointed customer. Poor kitchens fitted well and look good are always superficial, any kitchen fitted badly is always a disaster.

The main problem with Ikea kitchens is a lack of service gap on the back of the unit to run pipes etc. Also doesn't allow for any scribing to a wall that's out of level.
