My toilet is making a air leak noise, dripping water in the pan and will not fill fully

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

Does anyone know how i sort out my toilet? It makes a constant air leaking noise, water drips constantly into the pan and also for some reason the water in the tank now doesn't fill up to where it use to. It only goes approx. 1 inch below the old water mark line. Toilet is a Cooke & Lewis Fabienne Close-Coupled Toilet. The internal works in the tank are made by Geberit. I have a photo but mybuilder doesn't have the option to upload on the question section. I've looked online and i cannot find anything that looks similar to the internal parts in my toilet!

Hi, It sounds like you need a new cold water inlet valve. Usually you should be able to fit a universal one but if the cistern is quite small take a picture of the existing valve and take it into to B&Q because they sell Cooke and Lewis bathrooms and they should be able to order you one. Hope this helps. Tom Prince

is it a push button flush,if so the drop valve that lets water into pan is jammed open or defective, the noise is the filling valve opening all the time to replace water leaving by drop valve, the fill level is now low because fill valve can not keep up with the flow out of cistern.

Hi if the water is going into the pan via the overflow, then it would most likely be the cold water inlet valve. As you have said the level is below the water line, then it could be the flush valve not sealing properly after flushing. Normally with a Gerbit flush valve, the flush valve sealing washer would either need cleaning or replacing. They are easily accessible if you know how to do it, and you can get seal replacements for these online at Amazon.
