Leak around bath tub
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.50 PM
Hi , I have a builder in refitting the bathroom , he has tiled the wall and applied sealants around the bath tub but it is still leaking through the bath tub. Do you need a special trades person to do this? He's done it twice in it's still leaking especially around the tap. I am afraid that this is not done property and in the long run will rote the wood and also leak through the neighbourhood's ceiling. Any advice? Thanks Carol

You can buy a rubber washer for when you open the sinkhole you screw it up have you attach a rubber washer in then you scroll the sink tightly and this should stop the problem if it is coming through the sinkhole

do you mean sealant between bath and tiles ?,is bath properly fixed to wall and floor to stop it moving, then fill bath with water, then do the sealant and let it go off before letting water out,if the bath can move the sealant will crack and leak.

I have been to a job this week, where a customer had a bath put in by somebody else and the seal kept pulling away. I found that a length of wood had not been screwed to the walls to support the bath properly, this resulted in movement in the bath and the seal breaking. Also water can leak through tap holes if rubber seals are not sitting correctly.
