Foundations for a short 30cm wall

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.29 PM

We are building a 14m wall along our driveway and wanted some advice regarding foundations. The wall will only be about 3 bricks in height and 1 brick in depth and won't be bearing any weight. It's just to stop the soul from running onto the driveway. I've been told it would need a foundations of around 30cm x 30cm but this seems a bit excessive for such a short wall. I'm considering doing this job myself but mixing the amount of concrete required for such a long, deep and wide hole is scaring me off! Can anyone suggest the minimum foundations I could get away with please.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The foundations need to be at least 3 times the width of a half brick wall (i.e. 34 cm/13.5 inch) or at least twice the width of a one brick wall (i.e. 45 cm/18 inch).
