Order of works for hallway refurbishment

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

We want to refurbish our hallway, I'd like some advice on the order of completing these works. It is a 60s ex-council flat that hasn't seen any love in a looong time. What order would you recommend? -Change flooring from carpet to vinyl tiles -Remove existing PVC skirting (some conceal cables) and replace with nicer skirting boards -Strip paint and restore door frames (these are chipped and have bumps and holes in them) -Hang 7 new internal doors (1 is fire door) -Remove borrowed lights above dooframes - front door + 6 internal doors -Replaster & paint ceiling as it has artex -install new 2 new flight fixtures -Fit coving -The walls are a mixture of plasterboard and concrete and have very old wallpaper some of it has come off, lots of layers of paint, holes from old shelving and some pieces of plasterboard have come off when the electrical re-wiring was done - these need to be put good and painted.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would remve first anything that is in the way lights, skirting etc. -Remove borrowed lights above door frames -Remove existing PVC skirting -Strip paint and restore door frames -Replaster -install new 2 new flight fixtures -Fit coving & paint ceiling -Hang 7 new internal doors -Change flooring If it has wallpaper under the paint then it needs removing. There is a self adhesive 1m wide tape which helps the plaster being applied quicker and limits craks
