Filling gaps inside the bathroom and living room

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.29 PM

Hi, There are small gaps in the bathroom room just underneath the waste pipe exposing the joists under the floor. They are very small gaps which I believe are the entry points for small insects. Is it safe to use expanding foam? I have a similar issue in the living room where there's a slightly larger hole for two copper pipes which I believe is also allowing in insects. This hole is in the plasterboard wall. What should I use to fill this awkward hole

Expanding foam is a great method and no reason why you shouldn't use it. When it has cured, usually an hour or two you can cut it back. If you cut it back slightly more than your surface you can then use a filler over it and paint it or whatever. Prime or do a pva/water solution then paint as normal. I do this frequently to fill awkward gaps and it leaves a great finish!
