Tiling

Can I keep my bathroom suite but re-tile?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

When we moved into our house the previous owners put in a new suite that wasn't used but the tiling job they did wasn't great. Didn't clean off grout (on slate effect tiles), the silicon is so messy, some tiles stick out and it doesn't look very polished. I'd like to get it retiled but would I need to replace the bathroom suite as well?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

This isn't a problem, the suite can removed apart from any shower tray or bath, then the existing tiles would be removed. It's always a good idea to check the walls and floors to ensure the surfaces to be tiled are sound. To ensure a good bond, it's advisable to coat all surfaces with SBR primer, then tile, grout, refit suite and silicone. Hope this helps Darryl Williams Building Contractors
