One side of patio doors will not lock

I have double patio doors, cant seem to work out why the left side door will not lock? Right hand side locks no problem then I lift the handle for the left door and when i turn the key it seems to stop just as you should feel the lock click in. It did lock fine a few nights ago but once every so often is not very reassuring.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

make sure everything is tight in the lock screws then if all screws and locks are tight the door has probably dropped slightly and need adjusting on the hinges to pik it bak in line

You will find that the door which is always being used, has dropped slightly and the mechanism rollers or hooks or bolts cannot enter the recess. Therefore it could be just the case of adjusting the door. A skill full locksmith would be able to sort the problem out.
