What permissions do I need for moving a kitchen in a listed building?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.50 PM
I live in a Grade II listed building. There is currently a separate kitchen and living room. I'd like to move the kitchen into the living room and use the existing kitchen as a bedroom. There would be absolutely no structural work involved, only some new plumbing and electrics, and fitting the new kitchen. What permissions/approval (if any) do I need before making this change? Thanks, David

your first port of call is your local council ask for your local listings officer, speak to them and they will be able to tell you if you need any planning building regs or listing consent, it really depends on if its the structure of the building that is listed or if its the interior & exterior.
good luck Alex
