Dry lining in box room and bay window wall
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.10 PM
In order to use insulated foil backed plaster board to help with condensation do I need to remove the plaster that's already on the walls. (Some rooms have slightly blown plaster around windows but not all) I have been told yes and no. So a bit confused on what the correct procedure is. Any advice will be appreciated

You could, but you would still need to use a stabilising agent such as 'blue grit' or diluted PVA on the walls prior to sticking the boards to provide good adhesion to the existing plaster. Maybe a better alternative would be to use pink grip foam adhesive. I'll be 100% confident that will stick. Many thanks

Remove old plaster, use insulated back plasterboard and mechanically fix it - screws and washers. Skim. Done.
If you have an issue with condensation, i would look at possible ventillaion too.
