Can I move my expansion vessel?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

My solar thermal direct unvented cylinder system is taking up a lot of space. I'd like to compact it as much as possible before building a wardrobe around it. How feasible are my plans? See picture: https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1d1b2klC2CfpJWeyKD3HdE4Uy_8UUiyEz-r9lYNkdazs/pub?w=578&h=1033 * blue arrow is where I'd like to move the secondary expansion vessel down just above the cylinder. If I can remove the second vessel altogether, great. * green arrow is where I'd move the wall-mounted solar pump down a little. * orange arrow is where I'd move the 'tee' which is sticking out too much. * red arrow is where I'd move the overflow pipe, which is sticking out too much * ...oh, and as an aside... the pink square is where I hope to get a socket installed so I can plug in a ScaleGuard professional water conditioner to wrap around the mains pipe and remove limescale Can someone qualified please tell me how realistic this is before I post a job on MyBuilder? Thanks in advance!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello chrislondon_43 in response to your question about moving the secondary expansion vessel it is possible to do this within reason as long as all the pipework stays pipes up as it currently is. You should have a install diagram in the MI's which will tell you what tolerances you will have for each length of pipe. don't take this as gospel because A. i couldn't download your picture and B. there are certain ways the pipes need to be set up (I.E Blow off valves need a fall in them for the water to run off) if i had a drawing and a bit more information on your current installation i could tell you a bit more and whether your set up would be allowed
