Water leaking from outside of shower tray

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.09 PM

After 5 mins of water running in shower, water leaks from outside of tray at skirting board level and at the front of it. No pipes in or out here. Took up hatch and the outlet pipe is 'corrugated bendy plastic'' but is not wet. There is no leak if water not turned on. I feel blocked pipe and when water running is eventually stacking up and leaking out. I'm complete woman novice but had 2 plumbers to look. First didnt look under floor to see outlet. just said this could cost thousands, tell your insurer. Next plumber did bend down and look along at pipe and said it should be replaced with solid piece. The part in question is less than a metre. He has quoted me £1500 plus VAT as he says he will have to take out shower tray and fit new floor. Floor is now dry but was wet at time I discovered it. Shower room is about 10' x 4'. I wondered about using one of the new gas drain cylinders. Do you think it could be a simple blockage? Shower on ground floor, pipes are horizontal under floor with no runaway angle to them.

Can you see any water if you run the shower and look through the hatch ? The tray should be fully supported so possible hairline crack in the tray ? If so then the tray needs replacing. Not a 5 min job by any means. Also run the shower and spray the head around where the enclosure meets the tray, perhaps its not sealed correctly. Sounds like you have a flexi waste, some do fit them but i always use ridgid waste pipe where i can which is 99.9% of the time.
