What should I check on a property that I'm visiting after my offer has been accepted?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.09 PM

hi - our offer to a (very) dated property has been accepted. The first time we saw it, we didnt notice everything....we made the offer based on its potential. We are excited....and equally nervous. We are going to the property again....What should I check for when we visit the property once again? We are going to renovate the property - but I want to ensure nothing is overlooked this time. Any tips please? Thanks

Hi Firstly make sure that every thing regarding fixtures and fittings, work recommended by surveyor is adhered to, You vendor has a recent boiler safety check certificate, Get every thing in writing and logged with solicitor.Ideally this should of been done prior to offer. How ever a second visit is always good to iron out any further concerns. Check heating, All windows open and close properly , Run taps to ensure drainage and plumbing ok, Dont be afraid to do this, Its quite common. Make a note of everything, Take pictures, Check water water drains away from outside drains , and look for any leaks in guttering.
