Cracks in wall after steel put in

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.09 PM

We have recently had a single story extension built which required a large steel to be put it. Several cracks have appeared upstairs Along the join of celing and wall under window Some run along the wall and cracked the bathroom tiles. They are no more than 5ml thick. Builder has reassured me its just cosmetic but do I need to get them checked out? Whats the worst case scenario?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, I would contact the building control officer who must have signed this work off and or speak to the engineer that designed the steel and ask if they would come and take a look for you. Regards Andrew

Cracks between ceiling and walls could maybe be explained away as cosmetic, but cracks running along the walls and cracking tiles? Sounds like a serious settlement issue. Sorry.
