Any gas boiler or fire requires extraction from your property other wise you will run the risk of getting carbon monoxide poisoning which can be fatal. If you don't use a gas or any other fire for that matter then you do not require a chimney so could remove it. Always consult a a gas safe engineer if you are in doubt about anything because carbon monoxide is a killer.
