Ask a questionConversions
which type of steelbeam needed when fitting a 4 metre aliminium bi fold
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
We are renovating our kitchen and are having a 4 metre bi fold door fitted.. a RSJ steel beam is likely to be fitted.. primarily as the flat roof above may well be extended upon (creating load bearing) at a later date.. Would it be wise for a Parallel Flange Channels or a Universal Columns or a Universal Beams to be used above the bi fold door... Thank you any response..

Any beam specified by a builder will not be proven and as such, should not be used. It is important that a structural engineer is employed to calculate your beam, as at the very least when the house is sold, it needs to be proven that the structure is sound.
