Laying laminate on uneven upstairs floorboards

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.49 PM

Firstly would it matter dramatically if I just laid the laminate and underlay down anyway? If so, how do I fix the uneven floor? The biggest problem is about 4 or 5 of the first floors as you enter the room are slightly lower than the rest. After the first 5 there is a slight bump and the rest of the room continues pretty much even. Thanks

Hi James you should never lay laminate floor directly on top of floorboards. An adequate underlay should be used first. Then put the laminate flooring on to it. If they are in a really bad shape you could cut and screw plywood to the floor first to take out any larger imperpections Many thanks Dec
