Faulty garden sockets
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
Hi, last summer I had an electrician fit x3 double sockets in the garden for light features, they worked great until after I had a new boiler fitted at the end of last year. The boiler was checked and they said it was indeed the garden sockets that were responsible for blowing the mains, so he disconnected them. Can you think of a reason why this would be? I tried to contact the original electrician but had lost his number, so I need an idea what the problem maybe before contacting another person to fix the issue. Thank you in advance, Jay

Water ingress into the outside sockets? Faulty feed cable? How come the sockets were ok until the boiler was fitted, as if there was a fault before it was fitted it would have shown itself. You say it blew the mains? Is this circuit via an RCD/ MCB are they supplied by an armoured cable etc. ...what? A bit more info required. But the electrician you employ should be able to suss it out.

Really sounds like you need an electrician to check it out, could be a number of things really, I suggest phoning a known electrical firm so that you know they're not going anywhere and have electricians available at any point rather than a sole trader who may conveniently decide not to answer his phone or changes his number. Hope this has helped
