Huge gaps behind skirtings can fit fingers in some of gaps nowhere near flush

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.28 PM

Hi had new skirtings put on, walls horrendous despite being plastered last year not straight, old flat, guy finished work but huge gaps because its not sitting flush with wall, the last joiner who put skirtings on retired would'nt do it again, any way they were much tidier with sealant on top, this time i could put all my fingers in some of gaps, any suggestions? Just had a lovely wooden floor put down & it spoils it. Thanks in advance

Screw and plug where the largest gaps are, then use decorators caulk to fill the remaining gaps. Obviously not ideal but probably the best option to suit your situation.

Drill holes with a 6mm bit and use 6mm plugs. You can fill the holes with wood filler ( after drying you have to sand it before painting) or you can use caulk. Use caulk for gaps between skirting and wall
