What type of wet room drain should I buy?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.09 PM
Hello, I have a wet room and I need to replace the drain because it is leaking. It is the square type with a lid of 200mm x 200mm dimensions. Do I need to buy a new one with the exact same dimensions and what type of material should I go for? I've seen stainless steel and plastic ones, I guess the steel one would last longer? Also, I understand that the surrounding tiles will have to be removed. Is it a good idea to replace all the wet room floor tiles anyway? Thanks, Phil

yes stainless steel, you can just take up just the surrounding tiles but it never looks the same after re tiling, you would be better of doing the whole floor, but i would re do the floor with vinyl wet room flooring much better than tiles.

Stainless steel looks better, and is more durable.
Tile replacement depends on obtaining a match for the existing, and the condition of the substrate below. Following a leak it usually pays to remove all the tiles, and check the condition of whatever is beneath.
