Thermostatic shower not bringing hot water

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.09 PM

Hi I have just got a new thermostatic shower after yrs of using electrical which switches from hot to cold. To my horror my new shower only bring cold water. This shower is already fitted and cost me a small fortune so I can't return it. I had my boiler of over 20yrs changed by British gas whom advised me on which to get and was told due to the size of my property combi boiler wouldn't be suitable. I was told by the plumber sorting my shower that I need to change to combi. This is impossible as I don't have none for a new one, I changed my boiler less tha a year, just changed my whole bathroom and now facing this! Is there any other way I can make the thermostatic shower produce hot water? Please help and thanks in advance. Christine

It may be a case that your cold water pressure is greater than the hot & is restricting the flow of the hot water through the mixer valve If you have a service vale on the cold water to the shower try & turn it slightly off to restrict the flow Failing that turn off the cold water at the main stop tap to restrict flow to the shower If this solves the problem either fit a flow restriction valve to the cold feed to the shower or leave the cold water service valve turned partially off
