I have extended my Kitchen, do I now need an extractor fan?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
I moved into my 1950s council house & have removed the non-load bearing wall which formed the back hall & storage cupboard to open up the Kitchen. This has extended the Kitchen by 1.50m in length. I am now selling my house but I have been told I need an extractor fan fitted to the Kitchen since I extended it. is this right?

Hi,
People have different opinions on this but the final say is from building control, so pick up the phone and give them a call! that's why we pay our fees.

I would also recommend speaking to your local building control department. have a look at 'Part F' of Building regulations 'Refurbishing a kitchen' As I understand this you only need to retain or replace an existing fan. If there was never an extractor then you don't need to fit one.
