new TRV wont fit radiator

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.49 PM

I need to replace a trv as its leaking. The connection onto the radiator is larger than the normal 15 mm connection (it could be about 1") and i can not find a trv that has this larger connector. Im reluctant to replace the threaded part that goes into the rad as im sure this will make more problems. Any ideas?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would recommend taking the Trv into your nearest plumbing merchants and they could match one up to fit the stem already fitted into the radiator , other than that it's always piece of mind if it all gets changed with new ptfe tape the lot

just turn the union out of the rad,it sounds like an older or better quality trv union,if you look inside it you will see its made to have a rad key inserted into it,turn it out ptfe new union and screw back in.
