Plastering & Rendering

My new K Rend is patchy so they painted it

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.28 PM

I recently had the front of my house k rendered in white. It dried patchy because the scratch coat wasn't done properly since it was rushed. The end result was that the flat(er) sections reflect light differently so the whole finished looked patchy. There are also lots of scratch marks so it looks like a lion has attacked the property but all the images I can find show a rough but even finish with no visible scratch marks. They have now painted it with Parex DPR stating it will enhance the colour. Sure it does that but it's a paint at the end of the day and that doesn't hide the scratch marks. My concern is that it's now patched over in places, painted and not the finish I expected. Can anything be done or does it need to come off.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Philip , is likely the scratch coat was done with sand and cement and probably uneven scratch coat too, resulting in some areas getting enough top cot and some very little . or done, proper but when scratched , they did so more in some areas and less in some areas . Yours must be the monocouche system . I don't know how big is the area though best to cover the area with a thin cot of weber LAC and mesh then apply thin coat silicone render This would be the cheapest option As removing the whole lot and starting from beginning is much more
