How expensive is it to replace and cover small internal windows above doors in a 1980's house?

The door frame extends around the window frame, will the entire frame need to be removed or can the window section just be removed?

You may remove the beads then the glass and place in a piece of ply re bead and gloss etc to match or you can take glass out plaster board both sides and skim paint there is a few options

you can remove the glass and replace with mdf then paint it
