Half concrete, half floorboards - is there a way of restoring boards to whole room?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.28 PM
We've just had the lino in our kitchen ripped up to reveal that most of the room has original floorboards but a small part of it is concrete. We'd really like the whole floor to be boards so we can sand them down and paint them - is there a way of laying reclaimed floorboards on the concreted part so that it's level with the other boards?

Hi there
One way of achieving this is to break out the concrete to a level 5-10mm less than the thickness of the floor boards (typically 18-25mm) once removed latex can than be poured into the area to the level of the bottom floor boards. Once set you can cut the floorboards and dry fit them in place. A good wood floor adhesive can be used to adhere the floorboards down onto the latex, use a packer to get the gaps the same as the rest of the room. Hope this helps. Steve
