Windows & Door fitting

Should upvc windows (100 inches wide X 43 inches drop) be reinforced with steel/aluminium

Hi, could someone offer some much appreciated advice please? We have had replacement windows fitted throughout following a fire. The larger windows have some noteable bowing at the transoms. They are 100 inches wide X 43 inches drop. Windows originally fitted by general contractor (not supplier of windows). Insurance company arranged for a specialist manufacturer and installer of windows to come and have a look. They have been poorly installed, packers blocking weep holes etc. I asked them to check for the presence of reinforcements to put my mind at rest. They came to the conclusion that the windows haven't been reinforced as they were able to drill (relatively easily). They were quite surprised themselves. They were expecting to meet metal. This has been raised with the supplier, who advises that due to the web channels in the plastic of the system they don't need reinforcing??? (even though large windows). When I asked them for the build lists, the supplier wanted to know who was wanting them. Not being in the know about these things, I would really appreciate any advice. PS. no metal lintels above windows (if that info helps). Thank you.

Each and every From we fit over 1800mm comes reinforced as standard. Having been a UPVC fabricator for over 10 years, I can say the style of the frame also increase strength drastically I.e, if a frame has a double cruxifix, or say two upright mullions, it would offer more strength than a large frame with say just one side opener. Also the frame/Glass should be packed on long Windows to prevent mullions from dipping
