Using peel away to remove paint from brickwork

Previous homeowner painted over the bricks, there is a crack in the render causing internal damp problems. I am thinking to remove the paint using peel away, does anyone have any words of wisdom on how I can approach this and best method?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You probably need to have it cleaned off and all repointed then it needs to be sealed with pva or stabilising solution preferably stabilising solution if being painted

Apply chemical paint stripper which i presume what peel away is! re-pointing if need be and re render, paint and problem solved!
