Which sequence should I complete ceiling overboard, wall plaster and coving?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.09 PM
Moving into a new property which the bedroom's ceiling will be overboard with plasterboard as it is old lime and lathe ceiling, the walls might need some plastering patch up but most likely just skimmed and I want to install coving. Should I have the walls and ceiling skimmed before installing the coving or install everything and then have walls and ceiling skimmed. What is best practice?

Hi ih1986
It is best to overboard your ceiling, then plaster the ceiling and the walls first.
Once you have done the plastering and it has dried, then install the coving, this will then give you a nice edge and best finish to the coving.
Coving only has a average 10mm lip, so if you install this first, then board and plaster, it will cover your coving.
Hope this helps.

Hi there its best to skim the ceiling and walls before fitting of coving this way you keep a nice sharp profile of the coving, hoe this was helpful.
